Portia trained at the Alvin Ailey School of
Dance. Shortly after graduating from
The New School, she landed a co-starring role in 'Ghetto
Dawg', a Lions Gate runaway urban indie filmwork rented
around the world. She has performed at the Geffen and
Pasadena Playhouses in California; and, in New York, at
the former downtown Circle in the Square theater.
Portia performed in the stage adaptation of 'The Bluest
Eye' to consistently sold-out performances at Atlanta's
Horizon Theatre Company of which cast was nominated for
"Best Ensemble" by the 2007 Suzi Bass Awards committee.
She is a member of the Big City
Burlesque & Vaudeville troupe playing the sweet and
petulant Creola of New Orleans to the lovable voodoo
queen, Madame Deveaux, to Dorothy Dandridge, in-tribute.
Portia appeared in the truth-based Samuel Goldwyn film
'American Violet' as Laquathia, a smart-mouthed and
soft-hearted prison convict, directed by Tim Disney
starring Alfre Woodard, Charles Dutton and Xhibit.
Portia is currently represented by Atlanta's People
Store agency.
